Nicknamed “Venice of America” for having over 400 miles of navigable water, Cape Coral is the largest city in southwest Florida. Cape Coral was founded in 1957 by two brothers, Leonhard and Jack Rosen, and their Gulf American Land Corporation. It has a population of 204,510 and covers 120 mi.² area. With more waterways and canals than any other city, Cape Coral has an abundant amount of both freshwater and gulf access properties. There are a multitude of options for housing on and off the water. Heatherwood Lakes and the Caribbean style inspired Sandoval are a popular choice among gated communities. Cape Harbour and Tarpon Point Marina offer luxurious waterfront condominiums and amenities. Cape Coral has over 30 recreational parks with boat ramps, beaches, fishing piers and nature trails. Residents enjoy fishing along the Caloosahatchee River and Pine Island Sound. Cape Coral is home to the largest population of Burrowing Owls. Gopher Tortoises, Burrowing Owls and other wading birds are seen throughout Cape Coral.
